Geology 496: Water & Climate of the Desert Southwest
Links between climate cycles, water resources and society using the US Southwest as a case study. Water cycling, climate dynamics and development of society in environmental context. Offered: Every Spring semester |

Geology 600: Advanced Hydrogeology
This course is designed to be an introduction to computer and numerical modeling techniques in the area of subsurface flow of fluids and mass. We will apply these techniques to several practical problems in the hydrologic sciences. Offered: Every other Spring semester |
Geology 502: Field Hydrogeology
This course is a 1-week field course designed to be an introduction to methods in field hydrogeology. The first offering of this course was in Spring 2024 at the CSU Desert Research Station at Zzyzx, CA. The desert research station contains a network of groundwater wells that allowed for the measurement of groundwater levels, temperature and salinity. Students map hydrostratigraphic units, measure infiltration rates and conduct mapping of fracture sets and density for preferential groundwater flow paths. We conducted refraction experiments to map water table between groundwater wells. Offered: Every other Spring semester |
